Afterglow Thug czyli Osiłek

Mogę odtrąbić sukces: zmobilizowałem się i nie pozwoliłem, by osiłek z Afterglow zbyt długo czekał po odpakowaniu na pomalowanie (odpakowywanie tutaj). Model malowało mi się bardzo przyjemnie. Na szczęście nie pomyliłem się z entuzjastyczną oceną jakości rzeźby i odlewu i żadnych nieprzyjemnych niespodzianek w praniu nie trafiłem.

Zdecydowałem się na raczej stonowane kolory z wyłączeniem podkoszulka a la Duke Nukem, pomarańczowej maski p-gaz (skojarzyła mi się z Batmanem Tima Burtona i sceną w muzeum) i fioletowych włosów (tutaj bez świadomych nawiązań). Po malowaniu dość mocno 

przybrudziłem figurkę dwoma pylisto-rdzawymi pigmentami. Efekt - na zdjęciach poniżej.

Jeszcze raz dziękuję wydawnictwu White Tree za przekazanie ludka. Mam w planach dokoptowanie w przyszłości kilku kompanów dla pana Osiłka, więc można się spodziewać, że Afterglow jeszcze się tutaj pojawi:)

A success! I managed to mobilize myself and paint the Afterglow Thug without delays! (I unpacked him not so long ago  - the unboxing here). The model turned out to be really fun to paint. Luckily my optimistic evaluation of the sculpture and cast prooved to be right - no unpleasant surprises were found during works.

I decided to use mostly toned-down colours, but with a few exceptions. I just had to paint his t-shirt Duke Nukem red. The gas mask I made orange (it reminds me of the museum scene in Tim Burton's Batman) and the hair - purple (no associations that I'm aware of in this case). After all the painting was complete I weathered the model by generously applying two kinds of rusty pigments. Please see the outcome on the pictures below.

One more time, thanks to the White Tree for the model. In the future I'm definitely going to get a few companions for Mr. Thug, so you may expect some more Afterglow appearances:)

Unboxing - Afterglow Thug

Dzisiaj coś z nieco innej beczki, bo po klimatach post-apo zdarzało mi się na blogu ślizgać i właściwie tylko tyle. Aż do dziś.

Nie tak dawno dość głośno było w figurkowych zakątkach polskiej (i nie tylko polskiej) sieci o akcjach crowdfundingowych przeprowadzonych przez wydawnictwo White Tree, mających na celu, kolejno, najpierw wydanie systemu Afterglow, potem rozszerzenie go o dodatkową frakcję, wreszcie adaptację pod kątem RPG. Głośność zwiększała się zresztą z akcji na akcję na co wskazują osiągnięte wyniki zbiórek - 164% w pierwszej, 430% w drugiej, 1383% w trzeciej. Sam, przyznam, w ściepach nie uczestniczyłem, ale figurki do Afterglow gdzieś tam wypatrzyłem i nawet mi się spodobały. Tym bardziej ucieszyłem się z otrzymanej od White Tree figurki do zrecenzowania, pomalowania i zaprezentowania.

Model, który znalazłem w paczce, jak sprawdziłem u źródła, nazywa się Osiłek 2. Przybył do mnie zapakowany w elegancki, składany z dwóch części blister. Takie opakowanie ma dużą zaletę - od frontu można sobie bez otwierania obejrzeć figurkę przez szybkę. Od zaplecza zaś można wyczytać, kilka istotnych informacji.
Po pierwsze, że figurka jest w skali 32mm. W celach wizualizacji pod koniec artykułu wrzucę kilka zdjęć z porównaniem rozmiarów ludka do figurek z kilku innych systemów).
Po drugie - wyprodukowano w Polsce. W dobie outsourcingu wszystkiego co się tylko da na gdzieś daleki wschód, mnie to cieszy.
Czego na blisterze mi trochę brakuje, to informacja o tym, co to właściwie za figurka i do jakiej należy frakcji. Jak pisałem wyżej, w identyfikacji pomogła mi dopiero strona producenta, ale nie każdemu będzie się chciało tam zajrzeć - łatwiej powiedzieć "podoba mi się figurka Osiłek 2 do Ludzi Pustkowi z Afterglow" niż "podoba mi się ludek do Afterglow, taki z włosami zaczesanymi w irokezorogi, w masce p-gaz i z łańcuchem z kolczastą kulą na końcu w rękach". Ale może to moje wygodnictwo:)

Today, something a bit different. Some models that could be considered post-apocalyptic did appear on the blog, but I don't recall anything belonging to this aesthetics undisputedly. Well, until now.
Not so long ago there was quite a commotion on Polish (and not only Polish) miniatures websites caused by crowdfunding actions of a publishing company White Tree. Their purpose was at first to publish Afterglow miniatures game, next - adding some new fraction to it, and then adapting the system for RPGs. The success was quite spectacular, which could have been measured by the raised funds - 164% in the first action, 430% in the second, 1383% in the third. I have to admit I myself did not participate in them but since that time I met Afterglow minis somewhere and quite liked them. And I was happy to receive a model from White Tree for the purpose of review, painting and presenting.

The model I got is named Thug 2, as I found out on the manufacturers website. It came to me packed in a solid, two-part blister. That kind of packing has a big advantage - you can take a look to the mini inside before opening. The rear side of the blister contains some information, some of which I found particularly interesting:
Firstly, the scale of the mini is 32mm. To visualize it there are some pictures with size comparison in the end of this article.
Secondly, the mini is made in Poland. Well, in the time of outsourcing whatever could be outsourced somewhere to the Far East, I really like it.
There is one thing that the package lacks - there is no information at all about what the mini is and to what fraction does it belong. As I wrote before I identified the model on the White Tree site. Not everyone is willing to put that much effort. And it's much easier to say 'I like the Thug 2, Wastelander mini from Afterglow' than 'I like that Afterglow mini with those mohawk-like hair forming horns on his head, a gas mask on his face and a chain with spiked ball in his hands'. Maybe I'm just lazy:)

Po otwarciu blisterka i wyjęciu "historyjki" dokopujemy się do podstawki skrytej dotąd pod gąbką. Okrągła, o średnicy 25mm. Krawędzie bardziej strome od podstawek GW (GW schodzi ze średnicy około 2mm od podstawy do górnej powierzchni, ta - nieco ponad 1 mm), wysokość obu jest identyczna.

After opening the blister and removing the label I got to the base, hidden under the foam. It's round and has 25mm in diameter. The edges are a little more steep then the GW bases (those from GW have about 2mm difference in diameter between the bottom and top surface, this one - a little more than 1mm), the height is the same.

Pora przyjrzeć się najważniejszemu, czyli samej figurce. Jest jednoczęściowa (co ciekawe, wg informacji na stronie, składa się z trzech elementów... nic takiego nie stwierdziłem, więc chyba opis zawiera pomyłkę). Model wykonano z bardzo jasnoszarej, niemal białej, żywicy. Jakość odlewu jest bardzo wysoka - linia podziału formy jest niemalże niewidoczna, trzeba bardzo mocno wytężać wzrok, żeby ją wypatrzyć, krawędzie są ostre, równe, bez jakichś "zalań". Figurka jest bogata w detale - dziurki w paskach, nity w nakolannikach, pociski w pasie na piersi ładnie dopełniają obrazu twardziela z postapokaliptycznych pustkowi. Ogólnie ludek przywodzi mi na myśl klimaty fallouta czy mad maxa, myślę, że nie gryzłby się też z necromundą - więc chyba jest tak, jak być powinno.

It's time to take a look to the most important thing, the mini. It's one part (there is info on the manufacturer's side that this model consists of 3 parts, but this must be some mistake in the description - I doublechecked). The model is made of light grey, almost white, resin. The cast quality is very high. The mold line is close to invisible, you have to examine the model very closely to find where it is. The edges are sharp, even, without any "floodings". The detail level is very good - the holes in belts, rivets on knee protectors, bullets on the ammo belt, all of this look great and add to the picture of a veteran of post-apocalyptic wastelands. The mini is aesthetically close to fallout or mad max look, I believe it would not also contrast too much with necromunda. So, no problems here.
 

Cóż pozostaje - dziękuję wydawnictwu White Tree za udostępnienie ludka. Jeśli ktoś ciekaw, może zajrzeć na ich stronę lub facebookowe fanpage wydawnictwa i samej gry. Osiłek zagości jeszcze na blogu, gdy tylko go pomaluję, a na dziś pozostaje jeszcze zapowiedziane porównanie wielkości figurek.
